Hi at the moment iam trying to get a dvd to a single mpg file, the reason for doing this is so it can go on my creative vision:m.Currently iam doing it like this
1.Using tmpeg dvd auther to get to mpg file
2.The mpg is in 2 parts from tmpeg dvd author for some reason so i join them using tmpeg
3.There is now no audio after joining so i extract the audio from the dvd
4.I then add the audio by converting the mpg back to a dvd using tmpeg dvd author and select the audio file i extracted to be the audio for the dvd
5.Then i convert the dvd back to mpg using tmpeg dvd author
6.By now it is in one mpg file with audio
    7.Then i compress to around 500mb

Is this the easist way to get the file i want or is there a much quaicker and eaiser way of doing this?

The way I would do it: Using DVDDecrypter, Go to Tools>Settings>File Mode>File Splitting. Set to None. For Mode, select File Mode, then select the VOBs you want. Then save to disc as one VOB. Demux the VOB to M2V and AC3 with TMPGEnc encoder tools and do what you want with it.

Another way is to use dvddecryptor to rip to hd .
Create script for virtualdub to load all required vob's one after the other .
(extract audio , decode to pcm)
    Connect new wav .
    Start framserver .
Open temp avi in bbmpeg_vfw .
    Convert to mpeg .

    A tad long , but bbmpeg allow's many option's other's dont , such as ...

the creation of mpeg2 at 352x288 that ifoedit will accept without problems under xp ... normally crash's if video is mpeg1 .

You also be less likely to stike audio sync issue's .

    -----------------------------------------------------------

You could also call mplex to multiplex the mpeg video and audio stream like so .

    "C:\Program Files\DVDAuthorGUI\bin\mplex.exe" -f 8 -O -250ms -o "E:\ripped\title1.mpg" "E:\remux\core.m1v" "E:\remux\core.AC3"

    Ignor that -250ms , that's just mine ...

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Also install ac3_filters , if you cannot here it .

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Joining clip's is something to be carefull of , it's where most audio issue's happen .

    vob2mpg?

dvdx and reconvert to mpg directly?

tmpgenc xpress and convert directly to mpg? it supports dvd-video, but you need the ac3 plugin to be able to use ac3 source audio.
