  1. Is it possible to load the divx codec file into the bios in a DVD player?

  2. I take it that your a newbie here. Before you get flamed by long time vets, let me just say that, no, no dvd does, and probably never will. Search the forum about this. Someone, maybe Sefy or adam posted why this is. Hope this helps.

  3. No, as was said, it is not possible, and propably never will be in the next year or so, who knows, maybe in 2 or 3 years, if the Microsoft ASF doesn't get popular on DVD's (which it will of course, lousy standard always win the better ones).

But in the meantime, you'll just have to play DivX on the PC

  4. Thank you very much for the replys.

I was thinking to build a box the size of a DVD player. Inside would be a removeable hard drive, video card with tv-out, and some GUI for the divx files. I might be out of line, but I was just wondering.

    Thanks again

  5. I friend of mine has developed a box of his own that does play Divx, on television. The basic components include those listed above. His current project is the development of a combo similar to tivo, which will record video in mpeg4 format, and be bundled with a DVD-RW, which will record video on demand. In addition to this, the divx codecs will be on the hard drive so those few people out there that download divx rips will be able to play the divx format without converting to mpeg2.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but just convert it to MPEG and burn to VCD.
