I have used Nero vision express 3 to convert 5 avi files to burn onto a dvd. They had to be compressed to fit on a dvd+R which nero did automatically. I have noticed however that the audio is out by up to a second.
Having read some other threads on this forum from people with the same problem it appears that Nero was also used. Is this a Nero problem then? Has anyone else had audio problems and not been using Nero?

Probably source AVIs not ideal for conversion (=interleaved with skew, VBR audio et cetera). Makes most encoders confused.)
Try other oneclick AVI to DVD solution (vso divxtodvd) or read up on the numerous guides found left under convert.

Ive decided to give TMPGenc express a go.
One of the options is to use either mpeg-1 Audio layer 2 or Linear pcm for the audio. Which one should I choose? -
Here is what I did anyway.
Video: MPEG-2, PAL, 720x576, Interlace, 25 fps
Audio: MPEG-1 Audio Layer II, 48000Hz, Stereo, 192kbits/sec -
Good call. Provided it's a PAL AVI we're dealing with.

Well Im convinced that its a Nero VE problem as the files I just converted with tmpgenc express and then burnt to dvd with TMPGenc dvd author have turned out fine with no audio synch problems.

Add the feeling of achievement when doing things "by hand" - Yoy can't beat that!
