Ive just been reading all the info on this site about the TMPG range of applications. However I am a little bit lost as to which program does what.

Obviously DVD author allows me to create a dvd with menus etc. But whats the difference between TMPGenc plus, TMPGenc express, and TMPGenc mpeg editor?

they are not authoring tools so moving you.

tmpgenc plus and tmpgenc xpress are mpeg converters, like avi to mpeg that you can author to a dvd with tda. the xpress version is a bit easier to use.

tmpgenc mpeg editor is a mpeg editor...I don't know the difference from the builtin editor in tda though.

Okay so I dont need to have both tmpgenc plus and express then and could just get express?

So the mpeg editor, what sort of editing are we talking about here. Being able to cut scenes commercials etc from captured video or converting the mpeg to different file formats as well?
