I have a program that does this but i think u'd need a mod-chipped PS to play them.

    What are the burn settings?

  3. Greg12, are you saying that you have done this or just have a program that will do convert the files? reason i'm asking cause a friend of mine has a mod-chip in his psone but as far as i've heard you need something else for the psone to be able to play the files......

I have converted movies to STR format.

    I have never burned them.

  5. Why convert to STR? I bought a vcd card that plugs into the back port of my psx and I just convert everything to mpeg with TMPGEnc and burn it with VCDEasy. The card only costs $35 US and that's a lot cheaper than a second dvd player. Do you have a particular desire to convert to str other than just so your psone will play it?

  6. maynardjames, dont ever eXpect 2 get ne good eXplanation on this subject, just a buch of peepz woundering Y u wanna do it(like its not obvious lol) I have seen people including me asking this question many times over the months and have yet 2 get a good answer on this.

Well, Today after fiddiling around with the buggy program .avi2.str http://www.gamefreax.de/toolz.html for about 2 hours I was lucky enough 2 actually make a real FF9 MuziK Video in the .str format hehe. Since my game enhancer stealth 9 mod chip can read .str files and play them at will, I dont think a seperate (additional cost) PSX VCD adapter would b necessary. The FinaL Fantasy 9 video was actually an 80 meg MPEG1 VCD complaint file. When i was done converting it 2 .str, the file was over 178megs I believe, so the .str format isnt as visually detailed or use that great of a compression algorith compaired to MPEG, MPEG is both a better quality in Video and much smaller in file size, you are better off using the VCD format other then the .str format. Another problem, Unfortunatly for reason my Game Enhancer failed to read the file, I dont know Y either, it was fully complaint with the psx's .str standard it shouldnt have had a problem, but it did, It says wrong file parameters or something of the sort.

So IF SOME1 CAN 4 ONCE IN MY LIFETIME PLEASE POST AN EXPLANATION ON THIS SUBJECT WITH SOME FAIRY INTELLIGENT KNOWLEDGE ON HOW 2 CREAT A PROPER .STR FILE THAT WILL PLAY IN A PSX, PLEASE SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE. THANK YOU
