    hey.. i have a dvd that i made... it works in all hardware players, and it works perfectly fine in my laptop and pc, yet it wont work at all at a friend's laptop and pc.... windows xp fails to recognize it.

    on both of our laptops, we have the exact same dvd/cdrw drive, by matshita..... which is what i dont get, cuz it works on mine, but not hers.
    on the pc... im using a dvd/cdrw drive, as is she..

    we're both running winXP SP2 on all systems.

    any suggestions?

    I wonder if your friend has (without her say so) loaded one of these app's that prevents windows from detecting the dvd we are hearing so much about currently. You don't mention if her laptop can read other dvds however.

    hey.....sorry..... yeah, all other dvds work fine on her laptop... and what are these types of programs that block access to dvds?..... i've never heard of such.....

    Sony have just been rapped over the knuckles for their version there is a new one just mentioned in the forum today

    Ok what about other DVDs you have made yourself on her computer?
    It is possible your burner has made a burn that is a little weaker then is tolerated with her reader, in respect to reflectivity. I have seen this in pressed (bought) cds where the stamper is getting worn. I have also been able to monitor the eye pattern and detect a low reflectivity because of burner settings and or speed of burn. Lots of reasons. PGCEdit gives the ability to set a 32k space between ifo files, my Sony will not play a DVD burnt in this manner.
    Its always hard to pin point these problems.
