  1. I have a tv tuner card on my pc and I capture video with audio with it. The card is pci-avermedia tv go 007 plus.
The program gives me the option to choose which codec to use for audio capture (along with video).
Although video has a configuration menu about every codec, this does not happen with audio. I can set quality of video and many other options.
So I wonder how can I set the audio according to my preferences.
My purpose is to use the most compression on audio, so I chose mpeg3 option. But I can see to another window of avemedia application that audio has 44000khz sampling rate and 16bit stereo! I think it would be ok to have 32000khz with 8bit mono.

What can I do to change settings on audio options? Should I install any new codec on my pc? Are there anywhere on my windows system, some options to set about audio capture for use with my tv tuner card?

    What should I do?

You might have to re-encode your audio after capture, but 1st I'd check in something like V/Dub to see what mp3 options you have available. If they match your options in your capture app, probably can upgrade -- if not your capture app may use it's own encoder.

I run virtualdub to see audio options.
All codecs (already installed mpeg3 and the new lame) had their various options!

But is it possible the avermedia app not to give me a chance to change the settings? Can I do this from somewhere else? Why it assumes I want the best audio quality when I can change every aspect about image of captured video?

  4. Unusual but not impossible that your capture app simply does not offer audio capture configuration. Suggest reading the manual and checking the company website. If configuration is not available within that program, then find another application that works with your card and which has the options you are looking for.

Read docs as Nelson37 suggested, but avermedia app probably uses it's own encoder, or else you'd see the pretty much the same thing as in V/dub. Probably either have to choose best quality & re-encode audio, or see if another capture app does what you want.

Software developers don't always have the same goals as you. Why opensource stuff works so well.
