I burned a TV program on a DVD-R. I can play it back on other standalone players, so I know it's finalized.
I played it on my PC twice and I was able to rip it to my hard drive using DVD Decrypter. Now it will not play on my PC. Why would it quit on the PC. If I try to look at the contents(using Windows Explorer) it appears that drive is empty. Forcing it will only produce a message that the 'device is not ready'.
I can playback retail DVD's on my PC.

That sounds like bad DVD media. Have you tried different brands?
And is it still able to play on the DVR? If it does, something may have changed in your computer. Generally, if Explorer can't see the disc anymore, media is at fault. (Or your DVD drive itself is having problems.)
