Hi, I'm new to this forum, and i need a very simple question answers by some vets. well, here it is, Do I really need a DVD-ROM to rip DVDs to SVCD or VCD? are there any alternatives available? because i don't like the fact of spending another 100 bucks or so, when i already have a DVD player. Any suggestions?

100 bucks!??!...they are cheaper than that....but to answer your question YES you do..well, unless you want to try to use a capture card, but I wouldnt recommend that method.

Hehe. In about a day I am ordering a brand new DVD-ROM from the internet. Yes you have to have it to rip and no they are not $100. I am getting one for $69.99 and it's a good one with WINDVD.
