    I have a Region 1 Sony DVP-NS300, and I'm trying to use my Pronto TSU3000 remote to hack it to be region free (all I really need is Region 2 PAL).

    I've been trying the 1-5 button HEX code hack that some of you may be familiar with, and I'm not having any luck. I'll lay-out everything that I've done up to this point, hopefully to provide you with enough info to help.

    1. I programed five seperate soft buttons with the HEX code from this site: http://www.regionfreedvd.net/player/sony.html
    2. I tried several button pressing techniques i.e. 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5 and 1-5 like normal as described on the regionfreedvd site.
    3. I'm starting with the player in standby mode (red light)
    4. The fifth button always successfully turns the player on/off, but that's it. I don't ever get the "success" message.
    5. I also tried programing all five sets of hex code into a macro button. It would spit out all five commands in sequence and I varied the delay time between the 1,1 and 2,3 etc. button presses. Again it would run through all of them and turn the player on/off with no luck.

    Can you please help?!

    Well, first off, buy something besides a sony 8)

    Have you watched backups/dvdr's on this player before ?

    Okay, try this if you want to watch region 2 PAL dvd's in it, copy one of your PAL dvd's to dvdr, it is now region free (actually all region encoded) and will be read by any standalone dvd player that will play dvdrs.

    The real problem is, will your sony convert PAL to NTSC
