Lite-On LVW-5007 Preparing Disc Problem

Hey,
I've have my LITE-ON 5007 and have not had many major problem until now. When I bought a disc in it says its preparing, and doesn't stop until I turn off the DVD player. Thus, making the disc useless. Does anyone know if this problem can be fixed, or should I just junk the player. I have the latest firmware loaded, and have tried 3 different kinds of media.

Try cleaning the laser lens in the burner.

Tried it and it didn't work I guess I'll buy a new Dvd recorder, hopefully it last longer, this one last almost a year WOW!

i do not have this model or brand of recorder but how about just buying a new pc style dvd burner to put inside it instead of a whole new unit? i know this can be done with some dvd recorders. ive done it with a hyundai.
