Hello all,
The JSI seems to be an interesting option especially for it's current $75 price at Sears.
A few quick questions though.
1st will it play DVD-R with several files of different formats and with folders. IE. a disc with several .avi's and a couple of folders with JPEGs and MP3s?
I tried one at the store and it didn't even seem to recognize it but my Philips 642 did before it died. The same JSI player did recognize and play a disc with several .avi's but no folders (JPEG or MP3).
Is it region hackable and if so what id the proceedure?
Does it use common remote IR codes so that it can be controled by a universal remote without learning each button?
Finally, will it play high resolution avi's like HRHD digital TV rips with Dolby AC3 and mix the AC3 5.1 down to stereo?
Thanks for any help in advance,
Mike

I don't know of this player, but I don't believe there are any players that support HD avi files. They also don't downmix audio, it is output in the form it is read from the disc.
