Ok, I use DVD Fab Decryptor to rip the DVD, DVD Shrink to compress it and DVD Decryptor to burn the final disc. I use Sony DVD-R 4.7GB discs for my backups.
The problem is, there always (except for two occasions) seems to be one skip in the movie, and a few very small periods of glitch or artifacting that occur on each backup. I thought DVD Fab would solve this but it still happens, and with our newer DVD's it gets a bit worse.
The DVDs work fine on the PC, this only happens in standalone players, so is there something I am doing wrong? Would I be able to avoid this by using a different method? It's only a small problem really and they are just backups, but I'm somewhat of a geek when it comes to this stuff.![]()

I'd suggest trying some other media - issues like these are mostly down to incompatible / bad media.
Some writers/players simply work better with some and not so good with some media.
Is your Sony branded discs really made by Sony? Check the media code (and www.nomorecoasters.com)
