  1. Hi,

I recently bought a new SATA and due to the restrictions of the board, it would mean I had to move hard drives around. So I moved all the files I wanted to keep onto my new SATA and my other SATA. Then when I had sorted it out, and installed windows on another drive, I found that the SATA drives showed up as needing formatting, to be accessible in my newly installed windows. Which has never happened to me before. I loaded up partition magic in dos and the drives showed up as 'unformatted', but I noticed the files must still be on there due to the amount used.

Can anyone help me with accessing these files withinin windows?

    thanks

    Hello,

Have you tried to boot your machine using the Knoppix LiveCD ?, you could download the latest image from the Knoppix website, burn it to a CD and boot your computer with it. You could give it a try and see if you can access the SATA hard disk and copy the files back to your IDE hard disk.

In case you don't know, Knoppix is a Linux distro used for things like rescue of corrupted files and to access Windows files when you can't boot your Windows installation.
