Hi, all!
I'm currently using 1Click DVD Copy Pro (LG Software) to backup some of my DVD's. What I like about the program is the simplicity of use, and the quality output that it produces. It truly is a one click application - it transcodes the DVD onto the hard drive, and then burns it onto a DVD-R. One thing, however, that I don't like about it is that it's somewhat slow. For a 2 hour movie, the whole process takes approximately 3 hours - 2 hours to transcode and then an hour to burn. I know I don't have the fastest computer in the world (3 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop with a 1.2GHz Celeron processor, and an external USB LG DVD Writer), but I'm pretty sure that there are other programs out there that will do the same thing for me, only faster. The question is what are those programs? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

DVDShrink, and, if needed, DVDFab Decrypter. Both freeware. There are others to the left in 'Tools'. I've got a faster computer and it takes me about 40 minutes or less, depending on the DVD and the settings used.

I doubt shrink will be much faster. For your computer, that might be as fast as it gets. But give Shrink a try.

yea, with that kind of rig, you have probably just about maxed out the speed you will get on it....may be time for an upgrade if speed is that much of a concern for you......

I can imagine you squeezing more than a minute or two of extra speed out of it. You just don't the kit.
I can do a movie only reauthor and shrink in 8 - 12 minutes (depending on size and amount of shrinking, of course). This is working from the HDD, so add another 10 minutes to rip the disk.Read my blog here.

You could up your memory to 512Mb, might help a little. 256Mb is a little small with XP, especially if you have on-board video that sucks up some memory.
Other than that a faster CPU is the best cure. And more hard drive space. How much free space do you have on your hard drive? If your drive is over 60+% full, that can affect the speed of transcoding.
A laptop is fairly limited. If you can up the RAM, might help, but a desktop computer is really the way to go. It's just much easier to upgrade.
The mention of 'an hour to burn' would tell me you either have a 1X DVD burner, or it's stuck in PIO mode or your USB interface is slow. (Or there is some reencoding taking place.)
