The xbox can only stream movies in mpeg format and i know .vob are mpg format...They can only watch movies when its .mpg extension...So if i change
VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB to movie1.mpg it would still play right? and for the 2nd vob file, i put movie2.mpg. ? I have to put them at mpg format instead of vob cuz 360 only plays .vob files....
Do I have to touch the .ifo and bup files?

Maybe, maybe not. Some people will say this works, but for the most part it is not the way to procedd. There are two main reasons for this;
1. VOBs contain more than just mpeg video. They may also contain multiple audio tracks, subtitles, menus, navigation data etc. It's not an mpeg file, and calling one doesn't change that.
2. Many movies span multiple VOBs, so breaking ti down into parts doesn't make viewing it any easier or even fun.
The best method is to demux the video and audio streams that you want into a single file and use that on your xbox.Read my blog here.

I dont understand what you mean by demus the video ? Any easy ways? i know there is the 360 videora program and its a pain cuz their audio is always out of sync..
Back to ur topic...what u mean by demux? Bascially i just want to have dvd quality streaming to my 360 . thanks... -
check the dvd conversion guides on the bar to the left side of this page for a start, your probably best converting a dvd to .mkv or .ogm if you want to retain everything such as all the differant audio tracks and such, if just the main movie is all your concerned about xvid or divx are probably the two easiest choices....x264 may be worth taking a look at too if the xbox actually will play it back, dunno havent tried myself...... There's a few issues with vob...first what was already pointed out, generally speaking the movie itself spans multiple files, and another issue with it (to me at least) is the files themselves are HUGE.......if you convert the file first, you can probably bring it down in size to about 1/4 of whatever the original size is and retain VERY high quality as far as the picture......

Yes - the video itself isn't touched in the process.

VobEdit (available in the tools section) has a de-multiplex feature that allows you to change the multiple VOBs on a DVD into two big files, the movie and the main sound track. (I think that you can also de-multiplex all the sound tracks too). After it's done you multiplex the video and audio file (with Tmpgenc mpeg tools or many other programs) back to a single .mpg file. File is original quality.

What can I do for you?

i hear the newest XBOX Media Center CVS build can Stream ISO's, so in turn you might be able to stream a DVD ISO.

Don't think that XBMC is applicable on an unmodded 360...

It can be used on an unmodded system if you get the right version, not that you should though -
I suggest using DvdShrink and selecting the movie and audio track that you want. You will get .VOB files again but this time you will know for sure that they only contain what you want. Now use your favorite tool or DOS to cat all the .VOB files into one big file with the .mpg extension.
The DOS command is:
copy /B VTS_01_01.VOB + VTS_01_02.VOB + VTS_01_03.VOB out.mpg
DvdShrink may be able to do this for you as well. I don't have it here at work so I don't know for sure.Ted Rossin

Sorry, I don't know what I'm talking about but I have never had a problem using this technique. My belief (no proof here) is that if the VOBs only contain one video and audio stream then it is not a problem as the VOB files are really just one large file split into 1GByte chunks for simpler file systems on DVD players. So pushing them back together as one large file is simply a cat (UNIX) or copy (DOS).
Windows media player as well as other video editing tools (Ulead and Sony) that I use seem to be quite happy with files I create using this technique. In the future I'll give vob2mpg a try but the reviews do scare me a bit as it seems to screw up for some folks. DvdShrink allows me to select, preview and chop the material so I only end up with what I want.Ted Rossin

OP doesn't want a DVD - he/she wants an mpg file.
