I've been searching in the forum but can't seem to find the answer to my problem...

I have a MOV file that's 1280x720 and it's about 4GB and I would like to convert it to an AVI (Xvid) or DVD format so I can play it on my dvd player.

I have QTime Pro and when I tried to export to AVI, the file is looking like it's going to be huge, so I stopped it.

If I let QT Pro finish converting, is the AVI I'm getting an uncompressed file? Is it a divx/xvid avi file or do I have to convert it again? If so, what program do I need to use?

I tried DIVXtoDVD to go from MOV straight to DVD but I got an error for some reason.

I also downloaded SUPER and RAD Video Tools but I'm not sure how to use it...

libavformat has problems with mov audio a lot of the time. It should have no problems conveting the video though. That is if DivXtoDVD is still using libavformat/codec.

You could try AVISynth and directshowsource() to framserve to VDubMod for encoding. Assuming that is that you have the correct dshow filters installed. Like Gabest or Haali's splitter, ffdshow or CoreAVC for decoding, etc. Really depends on what streams are in the mov.
