I've used cd-rw's for years without any issues and have yet to suffer any data loss, but thats just my experience.
The biggest problem with packet writing, especially in the early years, was each pc had to have the exact same software and version. Different apps and/or versions always cause issues and is most likely the cause of your problems. For that reason I haven't used it in quite awhile. It is just as easy and saves space to burn the disc as data. It can always still be erased and reused later. The "big floppy" idea never worked very well.

I would agree with statement that "Different apps and/or versions always cause issues and is most likely the cause of your problems," except that the DVDRW problem described in my 2-13-06 post was using Nero 6 with latest updates installed on 2 separate systems. From other links I found in addition to ones in my posts, I'm convinced problems reside in the technology of packet writing itself. Why it works for a few but not for many others is perplexing, and I've no explanation for it. Use if it works for you, but use something else if it doesn't work is probably best advice IMO.
