Chapt aren't saved in the video file itself, but only in the DVD files.

What so there is no possible way to add chapter marks and keep the format mpeg?

  4. DVDs store the chapter information in the .IFO files (they are also backed up as identical copies with .BUP extension). MPEG files have no concept of chapters. The video objects (.VOB) on a DVD contain the MPEG data.

c'mon guys lets answer the poor guys question.
If you have the ripped DVD in MPEG format, all that is needed is to re-import the MPEG back into TDA (which you said you have). Go to the create menu tab and create away. Once you are finished just output the new DVD folder with files. voila.

The menus that TDA can create are rather simplistic in nature but they are functional.

They already told you. The concept of "chapters" is not part of the standard MPEG1 or MPEG2 spec (although it is possible with MPEG4, and likely with MPEG7 or MPEG21 in the future).

You can create a metafile (like .ASX) that refers to the MPG source file and defines chapters, but that is always EXTERNAL to the MPEG file itself.

Ok so if i created a metafile it would make the mpg have chapters and the chapters would show up when the file is being played, so it would be like a dvd.Is that right? Also how can i create this metafile?

If you are going to be playing the file, why don't you want to turn it back into a DVD? You don't have to write it to a disc, you can leave it on your hard drive as DVD authored files in a VIDEO_TS folder and simply play it with PowerDVD or similar. I think you may be confusing DVD files on your hard drive with those same files on a DVD disc.

Chapters are part of the DVD Video Disc format.Other formats that supports chapters are VCD and SVCD.
I've seen no media file format with chapter support (except for the new DivX container format, but then, there are hardly any players supporting that).

Just do a google search on "ASX Metafile" and you'll get a number of sites giving examples of how to create them. If you want to go further into it, you can check out M$'s Reference page http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmplay10/mmp_sdk/wind...sreference.asp. They don't mention "chapters" per se, but the [PLAYLISTS] or [ENTRY] feature is the equivalent (there may or may not be a "pause" between chapters, depending on the source and how it's listed in the metafile).

Regardless, this probably WON'T help you, because I would be quite surprised to find an "MP3" player that supports the ASX format (especially in in MP3 player which should be for audio only)--even though the M3U playlist format is akin to it and that IS sometimes supported.

    Good luck!
