    I've got a laptop and a pc and want to hook them up with USB and transfer files from the laptop to the pc. How would I do this with just a USB cable?

    Looks like you may need a special cable.

    If they had LAN ports, you could just use a crossover cable, once you have set both of them up. The old alternative is the serial ports or the parallel ports.

    other solution is if they are on same network just create a shared folder on one computer and move files back and forth that way.
