This is a strange one, the player still plays audio CDs but cannot play video (DVDs) anymore.
Seems like the laser is not aligned properly as it makes strange noises. For some DVDs I get a snapshot of the menu.
Tried cleaning the lens, making sure nothing blocks the tray etc.
What you do think ? Is there a quick fix or does mean a new one ?
Thanks

CD and DVD uses separate lasers. If you cleaned it and it didn't help, maybe you need to replace it. The noise you hear is probably the unit 'seeking' to find a track. It usually warms up the DVD disc when it does that also.
You might make sure the slide the laser mounts on is not sticking, but if it plays CDs alright, probably not. -
Thanks
A quick week-end evaluation reveals that I am better off buying a new one for 80 Eur that plays more types (Divx, Jpeg etc.) than paying for a repair.
