I have a OGM/OGG video file that has a XVid video stream and a OGG audio stream.
I could play this file in Windows Media Player when I was using my old computer that had CoreVorbis + Gabest's OGG Splitter installed.
But I decided to try out the Ogg Codecs from Illiminable for my new computer, since this is what's recommended on the vorbis.com website. However, it didn't work for some reason.
Here is the output from AVICodec for that same video file after I installed Illiminable's Ogg Codecs:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
File : 698 MB (698 MB), duration: 1:29:47, type: OGG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 58 %
Video : 657 MB, 1023 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 640*480 (4:3), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported
Audio : 41 MB, 64 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x674F = Ogg Vorbis (mode 1), Unsupported
-----------------------------------------------------------------
It says Unsupported in the audio stream, as if there is no filter installed for it. Does any one know why?
Is there something missing from the Illiminable's Ogg Codecs? (an OGM splitter or something?)
Are there tools that I can use to further diagnose this problem?
* I don't want to use those big Codec packs because they are too bulky and less convenient when I want to upgrade a specific component.
Any help is appreciated~!

Well ogm != ogg and Illuminable's filters only offer partial ogm support. Should be able to play that as I understood it though.
If Gabest's splitter and corevorbis work, then I would just stick with that. Haali's splitter is another option, especially if you aren't using MPC. Then there are also the radlight filters.
Errr, hang on, you have an ogm file containing ACM vorbis? Maybe that is just the way the way avicodec resports things though? Yep, just tried an ogg file and it reports the same. -
What's ACM Vorbis? Is it different from OGG Vorbis??
And how come CoreVorbis + Gabest's Splitter could work for that video file?? -
It isn't ACM. Turns out it is regular vorbis, just the audio tag had me thinking that it was ACM. Stricly speaking I guess it doesn't actually have a tag. Just like how an mp4 parser will send AVC1 for AVC video, but the video doesn't really have a fourCC.
Because Gabest's splitter was written as an ogm splitter with limited ogg support. Where Illuminable's was written as an ogg splitter and later given limited ogm support.
Therefor Gabest's splitter should work better for ogm's. I specifically remember Illiminable saying that the splitter supported ogm's as long as they didn't use audio other than vorbis or subtitles. So basically ogg, plus VfW video. Which would seem to cover your file. Guess maybe ogm support got broken somewhere along the line? -
I believe RadLight also has a OGG Splitter that may have better support. I remember reading that somewhere.
