  1. i've been using tmpgenc to convert my avi's to vcd or svcd for 1-yr now and very happy w/it
    i don't do anything fancy, i crop the movie at the beginning and ending to minimizes the compression and then straight burn it w/nero (no title page or chapters etc....
    i know tmpgenc is a very old software w/todays standard
    how do u compare tmpgenc video/audio quality to all the latest convertion software out there like;
    SUPER
    CCE
    1-Click DVD
    others (u recommend)

    Up there with CCE, but CCE is faster (and can do multi-multi pass VBR encodes).
    Oneclickwonders usually has nothing going for them besides being easy to use, but among them, vso divx2dvd seems to be the best.

    TMPGenc is very good and may be the best at encoding MPEG-1 video. I think CCE is better at MPEG-2 encoding though. I commend you for not worrying about menus on VCDs and SVCDs. I get really tired of the posts from people who act like their whole world will collapse if they can't make a menu on a homebrew VCD/SVCD.

    Along with the others which use the same underlying avcodec library.
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
