What is the Highest Bitrate that a DVD may have? What software you would suggest to capture at that speed?

  2. 10080 kbps total (all the tracks together)
    9800 kbps for video.
It has nothing to do with the speed.
Usually you need a hardware to capture.
Suggestions are: DVD Recorder or Hauppauge PVR card with hardware encoding.
I personally am using WinTV2000 with Hauppauge PVR 250.

There are several USB2 ones, including mine, the Hauppauge PVR USB2. The Capture Card List (accessed from the link on the left of this screen) is a good place to start looking.

  8. ati all in wonder's can also do a VERY good job of this, but be prepared to toast a TON of harddrive space up capturing to lossless...i personally perfer not to capture directly to mpeg if at all possible, as there can be a rather significant quality loss depending on the settings you use.....also either way you go, hauppauge or ati, i'd recommend some gold plated cables (do NOT go with monster cables, though, as they are nothing more than overpriced midrange cables) perferably S-video or better for best results.....
