Just got SVCD2DVD and playing around trying to learn the functions. I was going to try to Grab a BMP for a background from an asset (mpg or ts) but when I click on the title in the VTS Layout area, I get the error message "An unhandled exception has occured in you application..."
I found in the release notes that:
"If you want to preview Titles & DVD menus then you may need the following:
    DirectShow MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter
    DirectShow MPEG2 Audio Decoder Filter
    DirectShow Dolby AC3 Decoder Filter"

Where can I get these and do I also need to install the MS DirectShow program?

If you can play the asset in WMP then you already have the correct setup. If this is the case the problem is likely to be that you have other applications running which use the same directshow graphs.

Does the asset play in WMP? Is SVCD2DVD the only video type program running? If you reboot and just start SVCD2DVD - do you get the same problem?

I tried playing the mpg in WMP and it tells me "Sending request for codec..." then it shortly reports "Error downloading codec" and starts playing the soundtrack with the only an abstract WMP "visualization" in the window. I get both sound and visual when I use PowerDVD. I also rebooted as was suggested then immediately ran SVCD2DVD. I found that I didn't get the error message when I selected the title but once again the sound track is playing (the timer is progressing) with no video. If I then click the camera icon, I do get the error message again. I also would like to add that the mpg is one that was produced using HDTV2DVD as a step in making folders from a ts file.

Well you have a directshow conflict on your PC if it does not play in WMP. May I suggest that to solve your immediate issue that you use MPC and it's snapshot facility.
