    i have a few VOB files which have the top/bottom black bars encoded into the video. Is there some kind of playback DirectShow crop filter that i can use to watch these movies using MPC by cropping the top and bottom of the movie?

    You could create a AVS script, and open the AVS in MPC. But why?

    You can use Zoom Player to zoom the picture until the black bars are gone, at the same time cutting off the sides in order to keep Aspect Ratio. In Mats' immortal words, "but why"?
