Does anyone use this setup at all. and if so does anyone notice a speed decrease? When i had 98se loaded it would rip a dvd at like 1.7 or so and now im lucky to get above .850.

The reason why a DVD may rip slower in Windows XP is because in Windows XP, the DMA (Direct Memory Access) option for your DVD-ROM is not always enabled. In Windows 98 you can force enable DMA and therefore get the fastest possible speed.
Otherwise, CCE encodes just about the same speed in either operating system.
Hopefully you installed ASPI layers in Windows XP (if not, look for a program called ForceASPI). -
Im sorry my smartripper is the same. my cce encoding speed (1.0 is realtime 2.0 is double realtime).
In windows 98 cce was going at 1.7 and now it wont pass .850 on a good day.
