This is what I am doing to create DVD :

    1. Captured from DV Camcoder as Type-I avi files.

    2. Edited the files in ULead VideoEditor

    3. Loaded the edited files in ULead DVD Workshop. Manually add subtitles. Basically for the whole length of the movies I just use the date stamp so that I can view when the recording was done by just looking at the subtitle.

    4. Created titles, Menus, Chapters and create final DVD to some folder in PC

    5. Burned the folders from PC to DVD+R using Nero.

Problem happens when I try to fast forward or change chapters, the subtitle disappears. If I press the subtitle button in the remote, it displays SUBTITLE 01/01 . The only way I can get the subtitle is if I start the movie from the beginning.

I am Using Phillips DVP-642 to view the burned DVDs.

What should I do to be able to see the subtitles even after ff/rw, or chapter change.

For chapters, maybe try starting new sub event just after chapter point?

Just guessing really, because AFAIK the sub track is a continuous overlay, trying to break up the timestamp into chapter long segments, then writing to RW might or might not have any effect. If it did work, then you could break the subs into as many pieces as you felt practical.

I don't know whether changing authoring prog. or media or players would have any effect, because I haven't heard of any DVD's being done with one continuous caption. All I could suggest would be to try some tests using freeware & trials & maybe a friend's player to try and narrow it down.

There was a thread where someone was doing the same thing, blacking out the video on a music DVD, but I don't know if they ever finished the project, or had done previous projects that way that worked.

I can finally view the subtitles any time I want. The trick was to create the subtitles in smaller time increments. I used an increment of 2 seconds. Problem was that if a movie was 60 minutes long, then a total of 1800 subtitle frames had to be written. For this I created my own application which automatically generates the incremental values and saves to a text file which can be later imported to Ulead DVD Workshop.
