I have, previously, been able to play DVD's on my computer. Recentley however, I've noticed that it is impossible for me to play DVD's properly. I try to play them with Windows Media Player and it tells me it won't play because of issues with digital copyright protection (regardless of the DVD I play). In WinDVD there is no video and the audio comes through in tiny little jolts. I have tried installing NVIDIA PureVideo (I have a Geforce 6600) but to no avail. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks.

Is this the same version of Windows Media Player that you have always used? Is it the same version of WinDVD? Do the DVDs play OK in your standalone DVD player? Are these DVDs all exactly the same disks that you previously played successfully, or are they different ones? Do the same actual physical disks that previously played OK still play OK? Do you have the same DVD-ROM drive or burner that you used to have before? Do you still have the same computer? Same video card? Same ASPI?
    What's different, if anything?

Cool! It's the same version of Media Player. I've never used WinDVD before - I got it when other DVD programs stopped working (that and I didn't like PowerDVD). The DVD plays fine in a standalone player. Old DVD's that I've played before don't play. It's the same DVD drive.

I have also discovered two things:
    1. Nero Showtime will play DVD's
    2. If I copy the DVD to my hard drive it plays fine in WinDVD and windows media player (maybe it has something to do with copy protection. I still have plenty of region changes left if that matters).

videolan plays DVD's fine. Thanks. But any ideas on getting WMP, Nero, and WinDVD to work? I just reset all the DRM stuff in WMP - that did nothing.

    Thanks
