  1. Does anyone here perhaps have experience capturing from a DV camera, via Firewire to Windows Media Encoder ?
The issue seems to be, that although I have set everything to Pal, the "expected fps" is still showing 29.97fps(NTSC). When playing back the captured video, it's not good(jerky)
Iv'e been in the folder/templates of the program, changed everything to Pal, saved and closed the files and still, it says the same during capture, --Expected fps-29.97.
    Any ideas folks?. Thanks.

So you have a PAL DV camcorder? DV should transfer at that rate. DV transferring is not capturing, though. Just a file transfer.

I would use WinDV for transfers instead. But Windows Media Encoder should work.

Interesting, I never tried it with a PAL source.
    I don't see any 25fps options.

The only PAL DV source I have here is a color bar from the ADVC-100

PS: there is usually an online tech over in the MS help forums.

  4. Ok, when I transfer , via firewire to the Windows Media encoder, using my Pal format Cam. @25fps , the encoder info panel below states "expected fps 29.97----which of course is the fps of NTSC format. Which of course, we all know.
My query is why , when the encoder is receiving Pal input at 25fps, is the encoder expecting a 29.97 fps rate.
"DV should transfer at that rate" ------Not sure what you mean by that, to what rate are you referring ?

  5. Thanks edDV, I'll check over at MS.
If you open the program folder, settings, you can open all the video profile settings which allows setting to Pal or NTSC.

I wasn't sure you were using a PAL camcorder at the time. I would have assumed it would just accept transfer at the PAL camera rate of 25fps automatically and not assume NTSC.

It sounds like a flaw in the program. (But that would be a big one.) Let us know what you find out.
