Tried burning a DVD last night using Nerovision Express twice yesterday on to a DVD-RW using a new external DVD writer and all seemed to be going ok took about an hour (video was 43 minutes long) it all finished and closed alright. but when i tried to play it on my DVD player it says, after loading for ages that the DVD cannot be played and also it will not play on my PC using the DVD-Rom drive either! The file is already an MPEG.

Any of you clever peeps got any idea what might be going on?

Did you author the mpeg files? You can not simply burn mpeg files to a DVD and have them play in most DVD players. The mpeg files need to be assembled in a format that DVD players understand and that is called authoring. You may have done this but your post is vague, more information would be useful.

Did you create a DVD? Put the DVD-RW disc in your PC and look at the contents. Does the directory VIDEO_TS exist? If not, then you don't have a DVD and that's why it won't play.

Read guides etc., and you'll get an idea of what's legal on a DVD, & how to get there if your video isn't. OTOH, authoring software will not always accept everything that's DVD legal.

No files on a DVD might mean that you prepared a layout on your hard drive that needs to then be burnt to DVD media -- if you're lucky anyway

might also check out other authoring software while you're at it.

Right, I got the video i want to burn as an AVI file and converted it using avi2dvd so now i have a folder that has video_ts and with a .vop file in it som,e files that say backup file of the ifo.

I tryed burning the .vop to a DVD-RW again and i stil; cannot play it and it shows the disc as empty

Not sure what i am doing wrong, am i supposed to put more than just the .vop on the disc or burn it a diffrent way?

Well, it looks like you burned SOMETHING to disc just fine.

The fact that it won't play in your DVD drivs is another matter altogether.

As has been suggested above, read the guides on DVD authoring - MPEG-2 is the de facto DVD standard.

    Cheers!

  8. You need to burn the entire contents of the VIDEO_TS folder for it to be a DVD ready to use in a DVD player.

  9. One other thing I almost forgot in NVE. Go to the Nero Smartstart to burn, Then you need to enable Expert mode in many versions, in my copy it is the third button from the right on the bottom. Then go to the Photo and Video and choose Burn DVD-Video files.

    Good Luck
