  1. Ok! I will try it a 2nd time (or 3rd if you don't mind Mr. Baldrick)!

    The problem is the following:

I am using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 for ripping and burning the DVD movies for a long time. No problems so far with single layer backup.
As DVD+R DL discs are still quite expensive am I not using it too much for this purpose. But now and then if I find affordable Verbatim DVD+R DL discs I try to use it. So I bought a 5 pack box yesterday. The problem is that my sucess rate burning these discs without detecting erros after verifying then with DVD Decrypter is very low.

I don't know if this is common or if I am having some hardware or software conflict somewhere in my system.

This morning I updated my Pioneer DVR-108D firmware - it now holds version 1.20. After that I burned two discs and had errors on both. One with DVD Decrypter and the last one that I burned was with Nero 7.0.0.0.
On both occasions I had problems - errors on the verifying process.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Verifying using either application is suspect at best. DVD Decrypter using ISO mode certainly has a much better reputation for burning DL that Nero, but I would use either to verify. I would be using either DVD Info Pro or Nero Speed Disk to perform read and speed tests on the discs and see what they come back with. Personally, I don't believe the verification process built into burning software is worth the space it's label takes on the screen.

  3. I already used Nero CD-DVD Speed on my last backup disc made with Nero and the result was the following:

  4. After "producing" some coasters with my present burner, I decided it was time to buy a new one!

I simply believe that the best method available to backup your DVD9 discs is using DVD Decrypter ISO mode. This method has to work, unless you are facing some system conflict. It is so straightforward that one cannot miss.

So I did. I just bought a AOpen burner DUW1616L. So far I have burned 3 discs - always Verbatim (I consider that as a must) - and my sucess rate so far is 100%! Let's hope it stays like this...
