trying to download now, but i can tell you now it's bull. also they claim some other stuff on this site. all bull. the PS1 can not play MP3s with just software, it needs hardware. im downloading all of them as a goof. word of the wise, don't run the emu most likely a virus.

Got the bootCD and directions to copy, will try tomorrow, VCD player had corrupt BIN. Has ANYONE gotten ANY of this stuff to work?

Atleast the Bootdisc (PAL) didn't work even with burnt CDRWIN.. just plain nothing. PS2 was unmodded. Same results from modded one.

The PS2 CANNOT play VCD at all. It does not have the hardware MPEG Audio decoder chips required. PS2 can cope with PCM and Dolby Digital audio but not MPEG audio.

It is for this same reason that the PS/2 cannot play DVD-R created with budget authoring packages that create MPEG audio files. You get picture but no sound.

Like the PS1 the PS2 would need a plug in module to play VCD that contains the MPEG audio chips.

I would guess thats more than likely a virus of some kind.

By your reasoning, we shouldn't be able to play VCDs on PCs either -- we don't have MPEG video OR audio decoding chips...

The PS2 has definitely got enough grunt to decoding MPEG-1 at VCD specs... The point is whether or not anyone has been able to write a working VCD player for the PS2.

PSX can't play VCDs without the adapter simply because it doesn't have the computing power to do it in software and similarly doesn't have any hardware MPEG decoders.

This download comes form the same site that has the (bogus) Xbox emulator for download - IT IS BULLSHIT! The X box emulator that the site has for download is nothing more than a few system files from various Windows programs. But, what is more worring that the Xbox emulator seems to have some sort of trojan/virus with it.
I read a thread very similar to this one (it was actually about the fake Xbox emulator) on another forum. The members were mostly programmers/Linuxers/geeks/nerds etc, a few of them downloaded the Xbox emulater and inspected it closely. Some people found that one of its DLLs was actually a renamed copy of Notepad (Actually the German Notepad!). Some other files turned out to be system files from things like MSN Messenger and data files from PC games. Some people even said it contained a trojan/virus of somesort.
I wouldnt touch it with a barge pole.
The site is a huge hoax; possibly intented to spread virii or trojans.

What is actually more likely is that the site is just set up to make money from pop ups and banner ads.
Dont even bother to try and download it, it is set up to bombard you with pop up porno ads. I will download it and view it with a hex editor to prove it is a fake.

Next, the GC boot CD that is on the site also.
I found this small snippet of text lurking within the .bin file of it:
"Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. for North America"
Now what in the HELL would that be doing in a .bin file for a Game Cube boot CD... ESPECIALLY a PAL boot CD?

I cant identify what file the guy has used as a file, but it is definately not a boot CD for a Nintendo Game Cube!

And as for the PSX VCD playing software, complete BULLSHIT there too I am afraid. Just looking at the 4.8MB file in a text editor tells me that it is a Windows application of some sort; a PSX VCD player would not have a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library for starters. It looks like it is a messed up windows DVD player DLL/EXE or something like that...

Anyways... complete bullshit, the lot of it.
