I've been using Nero Recode 2 to convert my DVDs to MP4. The last few I made looked and sounded great, but I just converted The Empire Strikes Back, and the sound was just awful, there was hardly any low frequency at all, and it sounded a bit like it was coming out of a tin can. I checked the audio profiles and noticed it had the choice between High Efficiency (which was what it was set on) and Low Complexity. Can someone tell me what the difference between these two settings are? Does one have better quality than the other?

HE uses SBR and is usefull for low bitrates. Sounds like you were using a decoder that doesn't support he aac. What are you using for playback? Quicktime is about the only software left I think that can't decode he aac. Use a proper decoder and it should sound much better.
As for the quality question. As I said he is usefull for low bitrates. If the bitrate is low enough (<100k for 2 channel), he will sound better than lc. If the bitrate is higher, nero won't let you do he aac anyway. he aac can be quite usefull if you want 5.1 audio at a decent size. PS is usefull for really low bitrates.
