  1. people, i am burning a very heavy DVD though DVDLab Pro. the movies that i am importing are rendered from after effects 6.5. the final size of the movie is too large, and its taking a LOT of time for it to render. the solution i am looking for, is that, is it possible to join many movie files, and i want them to play seamlessly, without in any jerk. if it can be done in DVDLab Pro, then i can render small files in after effects and then join them in DVDLab Pro. but i want subtitles too.. many requirements, not finding a solution..pls help!!!

Well you're better off using a videobitrate calculator to establish the proper bitrate for a single layer or dual layer dvd project. That way your assured of a proper fit.

HOWEVER if you want to keep your exisiting layout simply finish the project as is. Then load the video_ts folder into dvdshrink and shrink it down to fit a single layer dvd. Of course you will lose some quality that way.

The OTHER method would be to simply scale down your project and use multiple discs. That way you maintain quality without transcoding. Simply select fewer video clips so as to get under the single layer limit. Then author as normal.

Your choice but you'd probably be happier with the results if you used more discs than shrinking afterwards.

  3. actually, my problem is a bit different..its not about fitting the whole thing on a DVD...

i am rendering my compiled movie in after effects 6.5 as a .m2v file. that redering is taking a loot of time. so i was wondering whether it would be faster if i could render the movie in chunks, and then join them in DVDLab Pro. but i want a seamless play, without the black jerks between movies. also, i need subtitles throughout the movie, and the option of 'movie segments' does not support subtitles..

if i could get a solution for joining mltiple movies seamlessly, then i will take the decision to render that huge file in smaller chunks on multiple PCs, and then compiling them seamlessly in DVDLab Pro.

You would have to join them back together before you loaded them into DVD Lab Pro.

The other option is to work more like effects houses work, and render out to still from AE. That way if things get interrupted you can just restart where you left off. Once you have all the stills (sequentially numbered, of course) you can just pull them all together for the final encode.
