  1. Hi there..
    Wanna explain problem...
I have many .mp3 files that I wanna put on dvd and I wanna make menus with the covers of each album and so forth..
so I want this menus to be played even on my DVD player and not only on my PC so I thought if I used a dvd authoring program and made DVD menus that links to my .mp3 files it would play on my DVD player with the menus just like any dvd movie with menus...
but when I used DVD Lab Pro I found out that it doesn't support .mp3 files to be imported...
so can any body help me and tell me about a DVD authoring tool that support .mp3 files..

    THANKS IN ADVANCE..

  2. The DVD format does not support .mp3, so you can' do what you are suggesting.

What you can do is convert your mp3 files to a format that is supported by the DVD format. These are mp2 (at least in europe) ac3 or PCM. Then you have to make a video for each one. This can be simply a still frame encoded at a very low bitrate so it takes up very little space, and it must be encoded as a DVD compliant mpeg. With these videos and audio files you can then make a DVD as you describe.

Easier still, many DVD players will play mp3 files straight from a data disk, CD or DVD. No menus though.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary...

If you must use mp3 source, convert to stereo AC3 at 192kbps using ffmpeggui, then author as you see fit. There are a couple of music dvd authoring programs around, but they seem pretty limited an crappy.

  5. Sorry for asking a lot...
but isn't there any changings in the size if I converted to stereo AC3...
you know I've a limited size and I've to put all the
.mp3 files into the same 4.7GB disc...

You have a finite amount of space. You may be able to use 128kbps, given the mp3 compression has already ruined the music. But unless someone has a gun to your head, you do not have to fit it all one disk. You would like to fit it all on one disc. I would like a million dollars to turn up on my doorstep tomorrow, but probably ain't going to happen.

Just like video, work out the running time, and you can find the bitrate you need to use. AC3 at 128kbps or less is going to sound the same as mp3 at the same bitrate - i.e. crap. AC3 at 192 for stereo is acceptable. If you are going to be so cheap that you must fit it all on one disc, I figure you are also so cheap you bought cardboard speakers and wouldn't know if it sounded like shite.
