What .d2v file to use ?!?

Hey all,

Just updated my SmartRipper to v2.41 and I noticed that now it automatically creates a .d2v file. Question is now; should I use this .d2v file, rather than the one created with DVD2AVI ?!?
Doing a "backup" of Evolution right now, the SmartRipper .d2v file is 428kb and the one from DVD2AVI is just 416kb. There seems to be a difference then, but which one to use ???

Picture_Size, Frame_Rate and Location is not the same, and there is more difference thru out the files. Will that affect the quality and sync of the movie, or is this all for nothing ?!?

use the .d2v file created by dvd2avi

the .d2v created by smartripper is really "general" meaning it doesn't have FORCED FILM enabled (when you usually should use this VERY USEFUL option).

besides, it wouldn't hurt to spend an extra few minutes with dvd2avi to create a .d2v instead of discovering, after hours of encoding, your video came out junky? =]

Here's a similiar question, when I run DVD2AVI and then copy over the .d2v file , the wav file and then vob files to my other computer for encoding. TMPEnc will not recognized the .d2v file as being valid, forcing me to rerun DVD2AVI ( on the other computer as both computer have the same ripping /encoding software set ups) to extract another wav file and make a valid .d2v file.. anyone know why ?

That is very likely because of the Path no longer matching, what you had on the other computer.

i agree with jbrondum. the .d2v file created by dvd2avi points to the EXACT location of the vobs. if you move the vobs after u created the .d2v file, there will be a problem.

does anyone know where i can find the vfapi file which is necessary for tmpgenc.?

that's what I thought path of files, however when I opened the d2v file under notepad I could not see any sort of path related statements in there...

Take a closer look at my .d2v file in the second post here, see how it points to a specific path:
