    Hi,

I want to capture video and audio that is already playing in my computer. Like I want to do a slide show and I want 10 sec from a movie? I want also capture streaming audio and video? Basically anything audio and video playing in my computer already? What is good easy to understand and use software? If freeware that would be awesome if I pay for it and it is good software that is alright also! Will virtualdub do that? I know it will capture from a capture card, how about from video already playing on your computer? Please and thank you!

Look in the "Tools" section. If you can't find anything that suits, post back saying what you've looked at / tried.

    Hi,

Thanks for replying. I have not tried winmedia. Does it work well? I am not able to remember nor find what software I used. I only tried 1 software though. It worked pretty good, however, sometimes when I would try to capture the video already playing in my computer it captures the video black? Is there better software that will not capture black? Please and thank you!

As well as looking, you have to read to see what the different tools do and which ones look suitable for you.

Microsoft has the moviemaker included in xp & they have (free) encoder downloads. How well it all works is a matter of opinion and debate. But there is a screen capture codec so you could start playing around without any investment.
