The battery is flat, so i attached the camcorder to the AC adapter. I got the warning 'Use lithium battery'. Does this mean you have to use the battery as well as the AC adapter? For my old 8mm camcorder, it said not to have the battery in when using the adapter, as it damages the battery.

What kind of universal adapter do you get for the AC adapter to use in Australia?

I would think that this would be covered in the manual that came with your Sony miniDV camcorder.

If for some reason you don't have it you can download the manual at the Sony website ... as long as you know the model number of your camcorder ... information you will find on the camcorder itself.

It's a bit silly to ask such a basic question in a forum when it surely is covered in the manual.

Yeah, it would be silly. That's why i looked in the manual before i asked. If you don't have a proper answer then don't bother posting.

I find it difficult that the Sony manual does not make this clear.

Another option is to call Sony support. Chances are the phone number is toll free and if not then there is always e-mail support via the Sony website.

Also I am sure that your question might differ depending on the model number so you might want to post that information.

Is it impossible for you to post a model number so that we could match your battery technology to what we are using?

I have 4 Sony camcorders and none care whether a battery is in when using the external power supply.

That is a new model. If something isn't working call Sony.

Just put the battery in if it asks for it. Maybe these HC models need the load.

    Ok, thanks.

  8. Sony had a "quiet" recall on a bunch of camcorders, that one included as I recall, so might be a problem.
