  1. I recently burnt 6 mpg's of equal size to a DVD ( -R ) disc as data. I have played them on my DVD player & have no problems. However, I have passed on the same DVD disc to a friend & he says his DVD player will not play the disc. The player says " NO VIDEO FOUND " ? I find this strange as it works perfectly here at home.

On my player the 6 mpg's come up on the menu & then you can select which one you would like to play.

    Can someone please HELP !!!!

    Thanks,

    MLOR.

Not all players can play raw MPG files. Yours can. Your friends can't.

Edit: Your friends player will require that the mpgs be Authored to DVD spec.

  3. Thanks,

Yes I agree that not all players will play raw mpeg's. However, I have given the same friend mpg's as VCD in the past & have worked ok. This is the first time I have burned them on to a DVD disc.????

    What do you think ?

VCDs are authored mpg1s. I could easily see a player supporting VCD and DVD and still not being able to read raw mpgs. That's exactly the way one of my players works.

VCDs are in a very specific format, and all the data are n Mode 2 DAT structures. They are NOT in raw MPEG1s. Thus, the comparison is not valid.

I'll bet that you have a lesser-known brand DVD player, while your friend has a namebrand DVD player, IMHO.

  6. Thanks Avatar,

So, how do you think I should tackle the burning of multiple MPG's to a minus R DVD disc. My friend has in fact an LG hard drive DVD player.

Or do I just keep producing VCD's on CDR's & just burn 1 MPG per cd ...which is what I have been doing ?

    Please Help !

    Thanks,

If your mpgs meet VCD spec then it's easy to convert them for use on DVD. The only thing that needs to change is the audio needs to be upsampled from 44.1KHZ to 48KHz. The authoring application TMPGEnc DVD Author does the upsampling for you so all you have to do is load them into TDA, define chapter points (if desired), menus and then it will create the menu structure, ready to burn to DVD.
