Subject pretty much says it all. I have an over the air HD tuner that can output to DVI & S-Video as well as Optical Audio & COAX. The encoded video quality is very good, however I really wish I could record the digital audio because stadium events like football kick ass.
I bought an cheap 5.1 sound card that has a COAX digital input, im thinking that I would simply switch to that sound card (ill disable the onboard sound card in the bios) and record directly from the COAX input. But after reading several threads (which havent answered my questions, but pushed me into a different direction) ive come to understand that this is what ill have to do.
1) Capture to MPEG2 720x480x30 via S-Video & COAX Input.
2) Open Virtual Dub and seperate the audio from the video.
3) Open BeSweet and process the audio file to AC3.
4) Merge (demux?) the processed audio file back into the video.
5) Edit out comercials using whatever program supports 5.1 audio.
6) DVD Shrink to fit on DVD-R.
I really dont know what programs support the editing of MPEG2 files which keep the 5.1 audio intact.
Any ideas?
PS
I heard the MyHD capture card will capture DTS audio and let you edit it without hassle. True? Yes/No?

I've never seen a (or heard) a DTS TV broadcast. Audio is usually broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1.
