    ok, so i really like that tmpgnc program...its easy to use and good quality...but since it only supports mpeg1&2 formats, im gonna need to convert my .avi's to mpeg1's...what is a good and fast program to use?

    What? TMPGEnc can open any number of source files. It only converts to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2. It reads pretty much anything you have codecs for.

    Maybe because im using the trial version...it says that avi's are an illegal format...

    No, it's not that TMPGEnc doesn't support AVI (because it does) - it's that it has problems with that particular AVI.

    I'm pretty sure you can output to AVI as well. TMPGEnc Plus can, anyway.

    If you mean TMPG DVD Author, then, yes. You can convert to mpeg1,2 with TMPGEnc.

    Ok, so i download tmpgencplus and it has a place for video file and audio file...i can put the .avi in the video file, now what do i put for the audio file?

    Assuming your video contains audio it should load it automatically for the audio source. You are following a guide I hope. There's lots of them for TMPGEnc and as you're a newbie to the program I recommend it.

    If the AVI doesn't show as audio source when you set it as video source, TMPGEnc has found a audio type it can't handle. (Usually AC3) You then have to extract audio from AVI and convert it to wav first, then use the wav as audio source.
