I record a lot of programs to DVD-RAM in my Panasonic DVD recorders and then import the programs into the PC to author and burn with TDA.
Sometimes I have several discs sitting at the desk and I don't have them marked. To open the titles in TDA takes a while.
Is there a PC program that can directly read and display the date and time stamps stored by the DVD recorder and display titling as entered on the DVD recorder? This software must be RAM capable. Free would be nice, I'll buy it if I have to. I had heard about an application that used to come bundled with Panasonic burners but the software is not commercially available separately that I am aware of.

  2. If you have DVD software on your PC just double click a VOB file and the player should open up and play it.
Don't know about any file readers per your request.

Oh, and I use post-it notes on my re-writeable media cases.

I'll rephrase the question. I can read the RAM discs on my PC. I do this everyday. I import the programs to the PC via the RAM discs and copy the content onto the hard drive. Sometimes I just copy the VRO file (yes to the earlier post that RAM discs do not use the VOB finalized DVD format) in raw state and edit that or if I want to individually import the programs I'll use either TDA or TDA Express which recognize the individual programs within the VRO file. The Power DVD player can understand RAM formats and recognize the individual titles within the VRO file for playing but it simply calls them title 1, 2, 3 etc.

What I can't see are the date and time stamps on the individual programs within the VRO file and I can't see the titles I entered on the DVD recorder. To see those I have to take the discs back the DVD recorder and read them there. A lot of television series do not have titles or production numbers in the program. If I know the original recording date I can look up the program on tv.com, or other program web sites to find out the epsiode title.

(One show that does have production numbers is Prison Break. With all the reruns and multiple network broadcasts I would have lost track of the episodes I recorded. The production numbers in the credits took care of that. For Lost, I have to rely on broadcast date and time stamp.)

Panasonic DVD Movie Album Copy Tool can read the DVD-RAM VRO time stamp. I just tried that right now. Select HDD to DVD-RAM in the program and select a file folder where the VRO is stored and it will display the recording time and title (if you made one)...

I was afraid someone would suggest the Panasonic product. I've heard this product can do what I need, but no one knows how to get it. Apparently, it used to be packaged with all Panasonic burners but some postings have said Panny no longer includes it. Some have tried without success to order it directly from Panasonic.
