  1. how can i get the smoothest picture when using tmpgenc?
i use the templates but the blobkiness is pretty bad. the divx has blockiness as well. is there anyway to smooth out the picture?

  2. If your original has blockiness too, i don't think there's much you can do besides making a XVCD at 2500kb/s. I've used Panasonic's MPEG-1 Encoder with a dvd-rip divx and still had blockiness on my RCA DVD player.

maybe someone else can help more...

I'm making some experiment with TMPGEnc, why don't you try to check Soften block noise at the Quantize matrix tab and put 1 on intra block and 1 on non-intra block, that should remove a little block, but ofcourse it won't always be as good as the AVI file. I wonder how to make a VCD without loosing some of it's quality. And BTW you won't remove the block in your MPG if the block is in your source file. My DivX has no block at all that for sure to me.

  5. thanks for replies,
but i think the quality is pretty good i am not concernd about generation lose but more about the blocks. its seems that in darker scenes the blocks are worse. see, all the divxs i get from morpheus have blocks.. they look like a low res. pic "if you will" understand what i am saying? i am wondering how to soomth out those blocks
