Regardless of the software used to capture(ATI, WinDVR,Nero,etc..the
captured mpg file does not completely fill out the screen during capture and playback. There is a black space on the right of the screen,ie, the horizontal
view does not fill to the right.
ATI tech support(what there is of it) advised all manner of setting changes,
none of which worked. Anyone else had this problem?
Using Dish Satellite TV w/DVR, s-video from DVR to ATI card.
Ath 2500, 1 gig ram. 1/2 terrabite storage....plenty of power..
Any/all help will be most appreciated...
First time posting here so I apologize in advance for any nono's, errors, etc
Thank You

TV is broadcast 4:3 which is 704x480. 720x480 adds 8 pixels on left and right as guard bands to prevent the sides from being cropped by minor H shifts during transmission. Normally these side pixels will be out of sight due to monitor overscan even on a 16:9 TV.
Try the 704x480 capture setting.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Let me restate the problem: When TV is selected in ATI
panel, whatever is playing on TV shows up on the CRT
in the ATI-TV panel. This miniture screen is the one failing to completely fill out to the right, thus, no matter what program/setting is used to capture, the caputered mpg/avi file will have this black (empty) stripe on the right side??
thanx again

Guessing, perhaps what you're talking about is reduced size video frame if you're tapping into (saved?) stream from sat directly. From other posts I've read, gather that they don't send full width frame, & box expands to 720 width. If that's the case, have to resize.
If you're talking about the preview window, in some apps, this doesn't always match the captured video -- it can be for previewing only.
If you're talking about std full frame, analog capture, ATI card will (rightly) show a black, vertical line on the right side of the frame, which is what the full TV signal looks like, but you won't see it on a TV because the frame around the CRT masks it. -
