VLC Streaming Audio

When streaming video to the internet using videolan, is there any way to apply some sort of filter to amplify the volume of the audio, or is there a standard way to do this from within vlc?

I haven't tried streaming video, but within VLC, under 'Settings', there is a 'Extended GUI' setting that has an equalizer, audio popup. This is in version 8.4a. For more info: http://www.videolan.org/
