I ripped a friends homemade dvd and tried to convert it to avi using AutoGK, but everytime I try it it gets stuck on a single frame while in "Analyzing Source" mode. Is there anyway I can skip that certain frame and get this conversion done, or any other tool that can help me out? I tried installing avi.net but it wouldn't even launch after I installed it and give me an error message everytime.

    any input?

    Hi mehdihs,

    1) Rip to PC as one single VOB. I can't remember which ripper(s) do(es) this, but it can be done. Have a look around.

    2) Load the VOB into VirtualDubMod and set that app to use your desired codec (Divx, Xvid, DV AVI). I've only ever done this using the Panasonic DV AVI codec, but it worked excellently.

I'm presuming it'll work with other codecs.

    3) Save out as AVI.

DVDDecrypter can be set to rip to one VOB. But I have a feeling, that isn't a solution in this case - We have to deal with the source VOB(s) we have, right?

Yes the problem is with the source VOBs. I tried merging all the vobs into one to see if that works but it doesn't. Its an issue with a single frame. Is there no way to neglect that frame?

Try loading the merged VOB in VirtualDubMod, and cut out the trouble spot, and encode to AVI
