    H . E . L . P . me please!

    I have a fine AVI-Movie with good 5.1-Sound

1.: As DVD-Architect cannot import AVI with AC3-Sound (Message:"this is NOT a required Filetype!"), i extracted the AC3
    2.: I converted the Moviestream to MPEG2
    3.: I imported the MPEG2-File (worked)
4.: I tried to import the AC3-Sound..... works NOT!

I`m completely confused HOW i can get this prob to WORK!
    Cause:
    - VLC media player PLAYS that AC3....AND says: It has 5.1-Channels
    - NERO Vision Express MAKES a 5.1-Sound DVD!!!!!!!!!It plays correct on my stand-alone DVD.But i don`t like the Menufeatures of NERO

Does anybody know how i can manage this?
Getting the cool 5.1-Soundtrack into DVD-ARCHITECT?????
    Or do i something wrong?????

    BIG Thanx in advance

Try running it through AC3fix to make sure it doesn't have any corruption, or try demuxing it again from the Nero authored DVD.

By the way (a stupid Question from a Newbie):

If the Movielenght is... lets say....1:30 and the AC3-Sound has some errors; can it happen that there is a lenghtdifference????

That the AC3 appears as 0:53 in lenght????

Cause i just got my AC3 ...fixed by reencoding with AC3Machine... into DVD-Architect, but the AC3 was MUCH shorter than the Moviestream!!!

Learning by doing is a hard, long road.

    See ya

If the difference is that large it sounds like the source has some serious problems

Had *one* ac3 that reported bad length in every prog. I tried -- used Delaycut on it to repair & that seemed to do the trick... might be worth a shot if ac3fix etc. doesn't work.

Did you actually use AC3Fix ???

That is almost always needed when you demux an AC-3 track from an AVI file.

Usually (knock on wood) that is all that needs to be done.

    P.S.
I would extract the AC-3 using VirtualDubMod and the DEMUX function found under the STREAMS option.

    THANX EVERYBODY!

    @ GUNS1INGER:

I demuxed the AC3-5.1 from my working NERO-DVD, like you told me....and DVD-Architect imported that without any errormessage!
It had the correct filelength and was synchron when listening and watching in the editor.

After i`ve got the AC3-Stream, several Infotools told me:

    5.1 > 5 Channels!
Like i said...It worked to import this into DVD-Architect, but:
In the Audio-Window i only saw TWO Amplitudes.... like Stereo has.
In the Mediaproperties of DVD-Architect i could read again:

    5.1 > 5 Channels!

    QUESTION 1:
Can it be that DVD-Architect USUALLY shows only 2 Amplitudes?

I started to render the DVD (set to AC3-5.1 Output!!!) but....may be i did the following mistake:
I switched RECOMPRESS for the Audio!!!
When i played the final DVD in my Standalone-Player, my Sony-Dolbyreceivers blue Lamp (for DTS/AC3) came up, and the Display said: Dolby 3/2.
But i couldnt hear the Rearchannels playing the Backsounds.
It seemed like it was only the Frontsound..... mirrored!

    QUESTION 2:
Can it be that recompressing makes a Stereostream out of the AC3?

    Thanx in advance

"Can it be that DVD-Architect USUALLY shows only 2 Amplitudes?"

Yes, & what good having the waveforms does I have yet to discover.

"I switched RECOMPRESS for the Audio!!! "

Yeah, that was a mistake. If no recompression needed shows up in optimized window, DVDA just uses as is. OTOH, never tried re-compressing an ac3 so no idea what happens.

"But i couldnt hear the Rearchannels playing the Backsounds. It seemed like it was only the Frontsound..... mirrored! " Niether DVDA nor Vegas can autoconvert 2 -> 5.1, so I'd guess it either had to be that way originally or Nero transposed.
