Greetings:
Could someone please give me some advice to purchase a brand name (Pioneer, Panasonic, JVC, etc) PAL / NTSC DVD recorder and player between $200 ~ $400 suitable for:
- Playing region 3 DVD PAL on NTSC CRT, PLASMA and LCD TV
- Transfering non copy protected VHS tape to Single (preferably Dual) layer DVD+R/-R NTSC.
- Recording cable TV program on DVD+R/-R NTSC
- Playing the recorded media on Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic standalone DVD player.
After doing some research at http://www.dvdoverseas.com/store/index.html?catalog98_0.html I am thinking about Akai DVD-RW120 and Toshiba SD4980 w/ HDMI.
Any additional suggestion and comment is greatly appreciated.

I just bought a Liteon 5006 DVD recorder so I could have decent NTSC and PAL playback. So far, so good. Cost was $150. Seems to play anything well.
