Hi,
I've just formatted c: and reinstalled Windows 98 on my second computer (normally I use Windows XP, but there I have to use 98).
Unfortunatelly some weird problems occur.
When I try to play any file in media player i get error message ". (Error=80004001)".
I've download Best Player because I thought that mayby that's Media Player's fault, but videos still can't be played. However sometimes I can see the first frame and the length counter.
The same problem is with mp3 & wav files in Winamp. There is no error, but there is no sound.
I thought that maybe this is something with my sound card, but when Windows loads the "welcoming" sound is played normally, sounds of "double click" and error messages also can be heared.
I've deinstalled xvid and installed it again and it still doesnt't work.
Then I did the same with ffdshow.
It happens with every mp3 and every avi I've got on my hdd.
The files are not corrupted. I checked them on other system.
So I guess it must be come codec problem.
The most amazing thing is that when I open those files in Virtual Dub everything is OK. But I don't think that watching movies in Virtual Dub is the best idea.
Please, help me if you can.
